Mission Statement
It shall be the Mission of the Mount Canaan Baptist Association, Inc. to create and promote a greater appreciation of religious education, promote economic and social interest of churches within the Association and to encourage high standards on integrity, honor and courtesy in their relations among each. It shall hold in its highest esteem the challenge to support education on the grounds of Bettis Academy, while supporting education at Morris, Benedict, and Friendship Colleges. This Association shall maintain a qualified Council who may, upon request of a church and/or pastor of this Association, will evaluate initial (trial) sermons, will provide ordination examination for license ministers, recommend ministers to churches without pastors and assist churches that are feuding, if possible. It shall be the mission of this Association to maintain the three hundred forty-three (343) acres at Bettis Academy in a way that recreational facilities (picnic area, ballpark, etc.) are available. It shall further be the mission of this Association to provide burial plots in the Bettis Cemetery for a fee, not limited only to the members of the churches within the Association.
