Reverend Oscar W. Brown is a native of Augusta, GA. He attended grade school in Augusta Richmond County and is a 1967 graduate of T. W. Josey High School, and a 1971 graduate of Paine College Augusta, Ga., and studied at Augusta School of Biblical Studies.

Reverend Brown was baptized at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church by the pastor and his aunt, the late Reverend Essie Mae McIntyre. During his tenure at Good Shepherd, he served in many capacities: Baseball Team Coach, Advisor to the Royal Ambassadors, Leader of the Good Shepherd Boy Scouts, Director of the Good Shepherd Day Care Center, Trustee Ministry, chairperson; Building Committee, Secretary; Bible Academy Instructor, Church School Instructor, and Instructor for the Noah Ebenezer Central Baptist Association and the Tenth District General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia.
His professional career consisted of working as a professional Boy Scout Executive, Personnel services for Medical College of Georgia, Personnel Services for the Georgia Department of Labor; Unemployment Insurance Claims Examiner and Administrative Hearing. He retired as a Quality Assurance Auditor. He hosted and co-hosted a community service program, ‘Music N’ Things’, that aired on Sunday mornings on WRDW- TV Channel 12, from 1981-1993.

In 1993, Reverend Brown was licensed by the Reverend Dr. Clarence Moore, pastor of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church. He served as interim pastor and pastor of the Second Hopeful Baptist Church, Blythe, GA.; and currently serves as the pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Edgefield, SC. Since serving as pastor at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Reverend Brown has been involved in the Mount Canaan Baptist Association as Dean of Christian Education and chair of the Alexander Bettis Memorial Scholarship Committee. Currently, Reverend Brown is serving his second term as Moderator of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Association, Inc., which consists of 20 churches in Edgefield and Aiken counties. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina.

Rev. Brown is married to the former Marian Tucker, and they have one adult son and one
granddaughter who is a Senior in college.
